Why such a project?
The BECC is a Europe-wide staff exchange programme. It aims at enabling locally based cultural workers to go abroad for a short stay with a cultural organisation in another country to exchange good practices, acquire new skills and knowledge and building long-term partnerships.
Every staff member of a cultural centre can participate - no matter if manager, professional, technician, artist, project coordinator, teacher, trainer, freelancer, trainee or volunteer.
Several goals, reflecting the European Dimension of the project, are envisaged:
- to promote the trans-national mobility of cultural professionals;
- to exchange knowledge and good practices at European level;
- to offer cultural professionals first-hand experience of the realities of intercultural exchange, in order to enhance sensibility for and appreciation of cultural differences through practical efforts;
- to establish lasting partnerships and cooperation between cultural centres from different European countries;
- to develop comprehensive guidelines, based on participants’ experiences, for the benefit of future participants and to disseminate widely the conclusions and recommendations derived from the programme.
